BRITISH DEFICIT.
TREASURY RETURNS,
(Received 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, August 31
Treasury returns for the past week showed the total ordinary expenditure for the financial year up to date to be £302,886,859, and ordinary revenue to be £225,030,621. The deficit is thus £77,250,248, compared with a deficit one year ago of £82,146,423.
: ;The returns-show that receipts from Customs and excise to date nave yielded £116,346,000, being. an increase on the previous year of £18,034,000.
