TEST CASE.
Paper's Appeal for Funds for
Communist Party.
" UNLAWFUL ASSOCIATION."
(Received 10.30 a.m.) CANBERRA, this day. By the issue of a summons against a Sydney publisher, a prosecution has been launched which is believed to represent a test case of the provisions, of the P'ederal Crimes Act. Francis Devauny, alleged to be the publisher of the "Worker's Weekly," is charged with having published an appeal for contributions to the funds of the Communist party described as "an unlawful association within the meaning of the Crimes Act."
