NO SURRENDER.
HITLER'S INTENTIONS. Followers Would Not Permit Compromise. TO "FIGHT FOR POWER." (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 12.30 p.m.) BERLIN, August 10. "My followers would not understand if I accepted President von Hindenburg's compromise," Herr Hitler told a Rhineland paper. "The Government's activities are lending to chaos. We will continue to fig'.it. We are willing to support the Government if the Nazis are supported and the Communists weakened. Asked whether a bird in the hand was nol i\orth two in the bush, Hitler retorted: "Compromise is impossible. My lieutenants would never forgive me if I renounced my principles/' "This slaughter must end, or I shall authorise my followers to take means of self-defence and end the 'Red' Cheka methods in a trice," said Herr Hitler in the course of an interview with the "Volkischer Efobacliter." He adds t\it his party is determined to oppose the , von Pa pen Government. "We have the right of self-defence. Foolish talk of peace and order will not cheat us. This is wretched bourgeois chatter. It has not brought one of my dead comrades back to life. My party will light for power, determining its methods by those of its adversaries." The "Vossische Zeitung," commenting on Herr Hitler's demand for powers similar to those of Signor Mussolini, says the world has long suspected that this was his aim. His "storm troops" would be transformed into militia on the Fascist model and the army would step into the background. Moreover Parliament would be abolished. The paper says the week's leave given to the "storm troops" is believed merely to be a cover for their secret mobilisation for Herr Hitler's next move. The Government's attempt to deal with unemployment has been hampered by Dr. Hans Luther, president of the Reichsbank. Dr. Luther has expressed hie unwillingness to provide adequate credits. He may be removed from office by Presidential decree.
