SCOPE OF DISCUSSION. N.Z.R.U. PRESIDENT INTERVIEWED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. Interviewed with, reference to the Otago Rugby Union's opposition to discussion at the special general meeting on the 18th instant, of New South Wales' desire for a conference on the rules, the president of the New Zealand Rugby Union opined that the O.R.U. was apparently unaware that the management committee of the New Zealand union had decided that unless the matter could be taken on the 18tli they would either have to defer the meeting till September 1 or call another special meeting. In the circumstances the president is of the opinion that nothing could be gained by not discussing the question at the earliest possible moment.
