EGGS DROP IN PRICE. FRUIT MARKET FIRMER. IvUMAKAS FROM ISLANDS. A shipment of Australian fruit came to hand to-day. This included oranges, mandarins and pines. The oranges arrived to a good market, as the demand for this fruit has improved. Local Poorman oranges and also lemons are still dull of sale. Values of apples have shown an allround increase. Pears continue dull of sale, but ripe bananas met with fair demand. Quotations arc: —

Oranges: Island, according to count, 14/ to 15/6; Australian Navels, 8/ to 11/. Mandarins: 7/ to 10/. Tomatoes: Hothouse, No. 1, 18/ to 24/; No. 2 and mediums, 10/ to 16/. Lemons: 4/ to 9/. Tree tomatoes: 4/ to 6/; Black, 6/ to 7/. Cape gooseberries: 3d per lb. Bananas: No. 1. ripe, up to 19/ per case; No. 2 and mediums, 8/ to 15/. Vegetables. New potatoes are more plentiful.
