LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
MEETING OF COTJNCII* ENGLISH MATCH ARRANGEMENTS. The Council of the New Zealand Rugby League met last evening, when the following charges were approved for Saturday's match: —Grand stand (including admission to ground), 7/; other stands, 2/ extra on ordinary gate charge, which is 2/. Children will be admitted at the same rate as last week, and all accredited unemployed 1/. The chairman, Mr. Cyril Snedden, said the League was gratified with the manner in which the epecial unemployed committee acted to ensure the smooth admission of unemployed for the first Test. It was pointed out, however, that no association or body concerned was entitled to make capital out of the concession by forcing members to become' financial with their organisations before being entitled to get the benefit of reduced admission. The idea of the Council and the English team managers was that • all bona fide unemployed or relief workers should obtain the concession. A letter from the Provincial Unemployed Association expressed thanks on behalf of workers for what was . being done in this respect. Mr. P. Rogers was appointed referee for Saturday's international fixture, and Messrs. E. McCall and F. Thompson linesmen. A committee was appointed to discuss with the English managers to-morrow evening the question of certain rule interpretations. The Auckland members of the New Zealand team for the second Test will leave on Monday evening in charge of the coach, Mr. W. M. Kelly. The West Coast League has decided that West Coast Test players will not play for their province against the Englishmen at Greymouth on August 10. Mr. R. Doble, the New Zealand Council official representative, wiil travel south with the tourists. Mr. J. Sanders, South Island and New Zealand selector, will return to Christchurch after Saturday's fixture.
It was reported that the civic reception to the Englishmen at Christchurch would take place at noon on August 12. After the two South Island . matches, some of the New Zealand players will play in the combined match against the Englishmen at Wellington. The New Zealand team will be at the Carlton Hotel and the Englishmen at the Royal Oak. Messrs. T. A. McClymont, A. Ferguson, 'and W. ,M. Kelly will select the combined side to oppose the visitors.

The English League football players, who haye been on a short visit to Rotorua, left yesterday for Wairakei. The party visited places of scenic interest and thermal activity during their stay, and they were entertained by a Maori concert party at Whakarewarewa .on Tuesday evening.
