SECONDARY SCHOOLS.

THREE TEAMS EQUAL. MOUNT ALBERT DEFEAT KING'S COLLEGE. Three teams, Auckland Grammar, Mount Albert Grammar and Takapuna Grammar, are now equal in the Auckland Rugby Union's senior schools' competition. Until Saturday last A.G.S. had a two-point lead, but victories by Mount Albert and Takapuna over King's College and Saei-ed Heart College respectively, brought the three teams level. The three leaders have 9 points each, King's College has 8, and Sacred Heart College has one. The main game of the competition on Saturday was that between Mount Albert Grammar School and' King's College, which was played as the main attraction at Eden Park. The light blues provided the better Rugby, and well deserved their win by 9 pointe to nil. In the first half Mount Albert were attacking more than they were defending, but they were unable to penetrate the maroons' defence, and the only points that were hoisted came from a neat field goal kicked by Johnson. In the second half the light blues went hard to increase their lead, and when the college backs got out of place, Clarke kicked over the full-back's head and dribbled over the goal-line to score a good try, which Johnson converted. King's tried hard to make up some of the leeway but without success, the backs being unable to take advantage of what opportunities the forwards gave them. The game, ended with the score unaltered. At the Sacred Heart ground Takapuna Grammar beat the College by 5 points to 3. Ten minutes after the start" the Takapuna backs staged a bright movement, which ended with a try by Warren, Emery converting. The college retaliated with a brisk attack, and Kawe went over '.•or an unconverted try. Sacred Heart had rather the better of the play in the second half, but were unable to add further points, and the game ended with the North Shore team two points in front. CANTERBURY BEATEN. OTAGO FORWARDS TRIUMPH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Saturday. Fine weather ruled for the representative Rugby match between Otago and Canterbury, played at the Carisbrook ground, which was heavy and somewhat cut up after an early game. The spectators numbered 10.000. Otago kicked off against the sun, and at once carried play to the Canterbury line. From a scramble in front of the goal Hartnell and Allan dribbled the ball over, and Hartnell scored. Bathgate converted. The visitors replied with a great try. The ball went to Oliver, who cut through the Otago men and sent it out to Dunshea, who scored. Vincent failed to convert. The Canterbury backs got away again, and Rowe scored wide out. Brown's kick was a failure. Canterbury 6, Otago 5. Simon broke away from a scrum and sent the ball to Wilson, who passed to Smith, who scored. . Bathgate .converted. Oliver retired with an injured arm. Hollow. Mortlock, Dunshea and Rcrwe combined in a rush down field, but a free kick saw the ball in touch a few yards from the Otago line. Rowe threw the ball to Peace, who dashed round, and, Otago being caught napping. Peace scored. Brown failed' to convert. Oliver now returned to the field. McSkimming made a great run down the side to within a yard of the Canterbury line, where he was grassed, and Canterbury j cleared. Simon made a nice opening at half-way after all the backs had handled ! the ball. . Mackenzie scored. Hartnell failed to convett.. At half time' the score was : Otapro 13 Canterbury 9 In the second spell, after even play, Mortlock was caught offside in a handy position, and Bathgate kicked a coal. Play became ragged, and again Canterbury if jvas penalised for offside play, and Hartnell kicked a goal. The Canterbury men were unwilling to go down before the Southern forwards, and for the greater part of the j<pell play was in the Canterbury half. The visitors were frequently penalised for offside play. Nlven, Simon and Hamilton got away, and the last-named scored under the posts. Bathgate converted. Otago 24 Canterbury 9 GRADE GAMES.
