Hopman Down to Perry in Straight Sets. LUCK OF DAVIS CUP DRAW. (United I'.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 12 noon.) LONDON", July 28* In the Anglo-Australian lawn tennis match at Scarborough the results of the first two singles were:— 11. G. N. Leo (England) beat J. B. Crawford, 4—o, G—3, 2—o, o—2, B—6. F. J. Perry (England) beat H. 0. Hopman, o—3, o—2, 10 —8. The Davis Cup draw for the challenge round at Paris, between America and France, is: - Friday. —Jean Borotra v. Ellsworth Vines, Henri Cochet v. Wihner Allison. Sunday.—Borotra v. Allison, Cochet v. Vines. It is considered that the luck of the draw has favoured America. French critics would have liked Cochet to meet Vines on Fridi.y when fittest. As Borotra is playing in both singles, the doubles team is likely to be Cochet and Jacques Brugnon. Cochet therefore faces Vines on his third successive day's play, whereas Vines rests on Saturday because the American doubles pair is expected to bo Allison and John Van Ryn.
