BAY OF ISLANDS CO.

Mr. A. C. Hingston, chairman of directors of the Bay of Islands Co-operative Dairy Company, presided at the annual meeting held at Ohaeawai on Wednesday. In moving the adoption of the directore" annual report and balance-sheet, Mr. Hingston etated that the paet season had been noted for two records —a low price for butter and a great increase in production. Prices had decreased about 10 per cent and production had increased 25 per cent, the result being that the company had paid out to suppliers £12,233 in excess of that paid out during tho previous season. A discussion took place on the subject of the payment of subsidies for cream cartage to certain suppliers. A resolution was carried to the effect that a committee of the board of directore be eet up to investigate the whole position. The chairman outlined action taken at various conferences of dairy companies to discuss the pooling scheme. Mr. S. W. Smith moved: "That this meeting expresses the opinion that pool marketing is essential for the dairy factories of North Auckland. He said: "Our present methods are not a system and every dairy farmer know? that improvements in marketing must bo made." The motion was carried almost unanimously.
