WORTH TEN AND EIGHTPENCE COMPARISONS BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph.— Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Tlie statement that the farmer's pound U now worth only 10/S in the Dominion, compared with 20/ in 1914, was made by tho Hon. A. Hamilton. Minister of Labour, at tho annual conference of the New Zealand Farmers' Union this evening. The Minister said he came to the conference, not as a Minister of the Crown, but as chairman of the Unemployment Board. Ho appreciated the farmers' difficulties. In 1017, the farmer's pound was worth 2;!/S, showing that the farmer had had a good innings during the war years. During the 1022 slump tho farmer's pound had dwindled to l(i/. and up to 1931 the average was about 11/10. In May of this year the pound bad shrunk to' 10/8.
