Mr. H. H. Sterling, chairman of ! : Railways Board, left for Wellingto yesterday afternoon.
Dr. E. Marsden, Director of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, is in Christchurch.
Mr. W. J. Holdsworth left for We! lington last evening, to attend a nice' ing of the Local Government Loan Board.
Mr. J. A. C. Allum, chairman of the Auckland Transport Board, went South last evening, to attend a meeting of the executive of the Municipal Association of New Zealand.
Mr. Ivan M. Levy, of Wellington, been appointed editor of the "New Zealand Worker," succeeding Mr. J. Thorn, who has become secretary of the New Zealand Labour party.
Sir George Fowlds has gone to Palmerston North to be present at the graduation ceremony of the Massey Agricultural College. He expects to return on Friday.
Mr. J. P. McPhail, Mayor of Birkenhead, who underwent an operation at the Auckland Hospital yesterday, is reported by the hospital authorities to be progressing favourably.
Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Com mis sioner, left for Wellington last evening
Mr. M. H. Wynyard left for Wellington last evening, to attend a meeting of the Main Highways Board.
Mr. C. A. Woolley, formerly superintendent of the Mount Roskill Fire Brigade, and recently appointed to the post of superintendent of the Wellington Fire Brigade, is suffering from an attack of influenza.
Dr. and Mrs. E. B. Gunson returned to Auckland by the Limited this morning. Dr. Gunson was in Wellington at the conference of the New Zealand Hospital Boards' Association, and he was later in Palmerston ,North, where, as president of the New Zealand .Association of Art 'Societies, he opened the Manawatu Art Society's exhibition.
