STRIBLING'S VISIT.

EXHIBITION APPEARANCE. ARRANGEMENTS NOW COMPLETE. W. L. ("Young") Stribling, who was America's hope for the world heavy-weight boxing title at this time last year, is at present on his way to Australia, under contract to the National Sporting Club of Australia, and will rnako three exhibition appearances in the Auckland Town Hall next Monday. Though only 27 years of age, Stribling has fought more fights than any boxer of .prominence now in the game, and undoubtedly remains one of the bis personalities in the boxing world. He is easily the most classy foreign heavy-weight who has appeared in Australasia since the stirring days of Tommy Burns, Jack Johnson, Sam McVey and Sam Langford in 1908-9.

At a guarantee greater than that paid to Tommy Burns for his championship fight with Johnson at Sydney in 1908, "Young" Stribling has been engaged to fight Ambrose Palmer, the Australian champion, at Sydney on July 4. 'While in Auckland he will box exhibition bouts for three sessions, at 11 a.m., 12.30 p.m. and 3 .p.m. at the Town Hall on Monday, his opponent being his sparring partner, Clyde Chastain. Stribling is a lieutenant of the U.S.A. Air Force, but will be so busily engaged during the stopover here that he will not have much time for fraternising with local aviation folk. There is a possibility, however, of his return later for a real bout, should an opponent be found for 'him. In this connection Jim Tracey'e name has been mentioned.
