Mrs. J. V. Macky, of Auckland, is making every use of her opportunities in London to see everything in which her interests lie, social service and children's courts coming first, writes our correspondent. She hopes to find a publisher for some of the books she has written.

Miss F. E. Macdonald, of Remuera, who travelled to England via Australia, where she was joined by a niece from Queensland, arrived in London recently. They have been doing the sights, and expected to *eave on June 17 on a Norwegian cruise, after which they will spend sOTiie time in Copenhagen. Miss Macdonald hopes to be able to attend the conference of the Federation of University Women iu Edinburgh. They leave for Australia, by the Orsova on October 15.

Mrs. J. C. Blomfield, of Takapuna, who was elected last evening as a member of the Takapuna Borough Council, has for many years taken a keen interest in things' civic. Mrs. Blomfield is president of the Western Area Ratepayers' Association and president of the Takapuna Council of Women. For five years she served on the committee of the Takapuna School as secretary, and among her other acts of service for the district was the formation of the Takapuna Band. Mrs. Bloinliekl is also a worker on the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Community Sunshine Association.
