MR. C. W. WHITE.
A former member of the permanent military force in Auckland, Mr. Charles William White, has died at Palmerston North, after an attack of pneumonia. Mr. White was born at Nelson 59 years ago, and was at various times a clerk in the Bank of New Zealand, purser with the Union Steam Ship Company, and then private tutor in the family of a run-holder in Australia. It was after his return to New Zealand that Mr. White joined the permanent military forces, and was stationed for some years in Auckland. He was afterwards transferred to Dunedin and then to Palmerston North, retiring on superannuation in 1930. Mr. White was secretary of the Manawatu Rugby Council, the Manawhenua Rugby Union and several other organisations. He is survived by Mrs. White, one daughter, and two sons.
