SOCIAL SERVICE WORK.

A review of the Social Service Association's work for the past month was made by the Rev. T. Halliday. the secretary, at last night's meeting o£ the Auckland Presbytery. Children numbering 91 were being cared for at the Leslie and Onehunga orphanages, while there were SO men at Avoca House. In conjunction with Sister Esther, 2324 gifts of food, clothing or money had been made. The committee had, it was stated, been forced to accept i the resignation of Sister Olive, whose j work among girls had been invaluable to | the community. A highly successful Bible class rally! had been held on the King's Birthday, : and a Sunday School teachers' conference was held at Mairangi Bay, it was in a report submitted by the Rev. A. M. Elliffe, convenor of the youth committee. The Rev. W. Bower-Black was appointed moderator of St. Enoch's charge. Morningside. The Moderator, the Rev. G. Budd, . presided at the meeting.
