ABSORBING MARRIED MEN.
SUGGESTIONS TO MINISTER.
Following an interview with the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, yesterday, Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P. for Manukau, on •behalf of other Auckland Labour members of Parliament, dispatched the following telegram to the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Employment:—
"Undoubtedly there is great objection to married men and exempted single men being sent to distant unemployment relief camps, which are quite unsuitable for winter employment. Work is available in Auckland city and metropolitan area, provided local bodies are relieved of the cost of insurance, material, supervision and transport. Landlords, retailers and trade generally are seri-. ously affected by the transfer of men. Labour members are willing to cooperate in any way to introduce a satisfactory scheme."
