SIR GEORGE ELLIOT'S VIEWS.
APPRECIATION EXPRESSED. Views on the subject of industry in New Zealand recently expressed by Sir George Elliot have the warm support of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association, the president of which, Mr. S. Takle, was yesterday afternoon authorised to forward the following letter to Sir George:— "I read with great pleasure your timely remarks upon the value of industries to this country. On behalf of my association I congratulate you on your courage in fighting that unfortunate kink in the community that would seek to discredit industry and those engaged in successful concerns such as yours. I take it this unforturiato attitude is prompted first by envy of success and fostered by that complex common in the Dominion which would discredit any industry other than those producing primary products for export. I believe the time is fast approaching when the value of the manufacturing industries of the Dominion will become much more apparent and such action as yours should do much to hasten that day."
