TAKAPUNA BY-ELECTION.
The by-election for the vacant seat on the Takapuna Borough Council caused by the retirement of Mr. C. M. Dowd wa6 held at various booths throughout the borough ifcft-day. Polling opened at 9 o'clock, and will close at 7 o'clock tonight. There are four candidates, including Mr. Dowd, who is offering himself for re-election. The three other candidates are Mrs. A. Blomfield, Mr. T. S. Hickey and the Rev. H. L. Richards.
