WORK AT ELLERSLIE.
SEVERAL HORSES SPRINT. ROYAL SURVEY AND VANDYKE SCHOOLED. No. 3 grass track, the two-year-old. tan, and sand tracks were available at Ellerslie this morning, but there was not a great amount of galloping done. J lie going •was fairly good. No. 3 Grass. Neil and Good Idea were companions over a round, and* were together at the finish, after traversing the distance in 158 2-5. Croupier and Manawhenua jumped off at the half-mile post, and, after running the first. furlong in 12 1-ss, completed their task in 50 l-ss. This was a good gallop, as both hors.es were easing up at the finish. Hawthorn and Bright Flower ran home from the half-mile post in 55 4-ss, doing it comfortably. Kiltowyn sprinted three furlongs, covering the distance in 39 3-ss. He did his work nicely, and could have registered better time. Wee Musk ran a short three furlongs, being joined by Horowhenua at the top of the straight. They were not timed, but both hit out very freely. The Jumpers. Royal Survey (Simpson) was sent over a couple of p*ny hurdles twice, gi\mg a encouraging display for a beginner. \ andyke (Simpson) was sent over the same fences, shaping particularly well for a novice.
