MAY GO TO SYDNEY.

MR. R. T. REID'S HORSES. HIGH COMEDY AND ROYAL ARTIST NOTES FROM TAKANINI. High Comedy and Royal Artist are among the nominations for the Epsom and Metropolitan Handicaps to be decided at Randwiek in the spring. Both these horses -were offered at auction last week but were not sold. Mr. R. T. Reid, who also owns Tea Trader and a yearling full sister to High Comedy, may decide to also send this pair, but although the trip has' not been definitely arranged, it is contemplated, and it is quite possible that it will eventuate. In the event of Mr, Reid deciding to send a team E. Pope will most likely take Speedmint and a Gay Shield—Lady Maire filly, so that the team will bo a formidable combination that should pay expenses for the tour. Tea Trader is in great fettle and is going along nice and quietly in the slow pace work allotted to him. He is wintering well and bears a very bright appearance, and as he 'has not been thrown completely out of work since his last engagement, lie has lost little of his fine condition. If he retains his form as he did tliis season he should -prove one of the best of his age next season. Mashoor's victory in the Hunt Club Hurdles at Ellerslie was well received here. It was intended to nominate the Luc-ullus gelding for some of the Hunt Club events at Riccarton in August, and should it be decided to send him South he should show up in this class. .Night Warrior has been turned out for u spell, and during his abse'nee from active work lie is to be added to the list. Te Monanui's full brother lias been a big disappointment so far. Bell Topper Resumes. Bell Topper has resumed training under J. Gray's guidance after a lengthy spell. The son of Moabite failed to gain a placing following an early indication on the tracks of his being above the ordinary. He has come back into work looking in the rough, and it will be some time before he is in racing condition. Palace lias been asked to do very little, but is muscling -up nicely and may not take long in reaching racing condition. Lady Whirlwind injured herself recently as a result of being cast in her box. The injury was to her hock, which she wrenched rather badly, thereby causing an anxious -time lor her mentor. She is now recovering, but progress has been fairly slow,' and it will be some time before she will again take her place with E. Pope's team of regular workers. It was rather hard luck for her connections as she was making great headway at the time of the mishap, and a trip to Trentliam for "the July meeting was intended for her. Marshland has been turned out for a spell. She lias been disappointing, and her form after winning a maiden at Takapuna was not up to expectations. R. S. Bagby, who has Refresher and a yearling filly by Whirlwind—Pliaola going along nicely nuder his guidance, intends to recommission Amnion lia's full sister Prolyxo, and this filly is expected to resume work before the end of the present month. Amnion Ra and Bronze Eagle are still enjoying their spells in the paddock, but the two champions may not be in idleness many more weeks. Amnion Ra's future programme is in the balance, as arrangements are being made for a trip to America for the Limond—Hyades colt. Hallam and Kodapen are two older horses of-R. Miller's team who are progressing nicely on J. T. Jamieson's private track. The former is a rising three-yfear-old by Roger de Busli—Mnndalay, who was not raced as a two-year-old, while Kodapen was successful in a maiden race in Australia, but failed to live tip to expectations in his subsequent outings on the other si<le. A Good Two-year-old. Greek Gold, who won his way into the top flight of this season's juveniles, through his victories in the autumn at I Ellerslie and Avondale, lias once again resumed work after a spell. This fellow should do well next season. Exaggeration and Holly Lu, members of F. Smith's team, have resumed work. Both were successful in winning races this season, and give promise of again being in the limelight next season.' They are full relatives, being by Lucullus from Holymond. E. Pope's yearling fillies by Leighton— Comedienne, and Gay Shield —Lady Maire respectively, are nice youngsters, and compare very favourably with any seen on local tracks. G. Morse has a recent addition in the shape of a three-year-old gelding by Prince Willonyx from a Polydamon— Slipstitch mare. The same mentor has broken in a yearling filly by Whirlwind and the youngster litis taken kindly to her education, and is very well mannered. Arch Ruler is still showing signs of soreness and at times the ailment is very noticeable. He will need to be treated carefully, as lie has been suffering now for some time. St. Ames was started only once at Ellerslie owing to receiving and injury in his engagement, which prevented his being started again. • This is a useful hurdler for the small meetings, and iic will do better over mile and a half even us. Princess Star showed up really well in the Jcrvois Handicap for six of the seven furlongs, and she can be marked off as a likely winner over six furlongs in similar company -before very long. Harbour Bridge has developed into a fine upstanding gelding, and as lie has not been asked to do much this season, lie may be seen to better advantage next season as a three-year-old. He must stand seventeen hands high and is built accord-, ingly. Being by Whirlwind—llukapapa he is a half-brother to Sargon.
