RUNAWAY CAR.
liVJtny® DRIVER IMPROVING. The condition of Mr. John Stanley Thomson, aged 28, of 170, Balmoral Road, Mount Eden, the occupant of the small runaway car that caieered down Wakefield Street into Queen Street and crashed into a shop on Sunday mght, and who received severe head injuries, was stated by the Auckland Hospital to-day to have improved considerably. Mr. Thomson was able to explain this morning that the accident.was due to the brakes giving way after he had got into the car at the top of Wake held Street. He attempted to get out, but had not the nerve to jump off the car, as it was moving so fast.
