UNUSUAL LENIENCY.
forestry service theft. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, this day. In the Supreme Court to-day, Air. Justice Adams sentenced Harry Newton Osmers, wlio had pleaded guilty to stealing £41 10/8 when in the State forestry service, Hokitika, to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months, he to pay the costs of the prosecution, £1 1/. The judge said he thought unusual I leniency was justified in the instance owing to prisoner's previous good character and the fact. that . full restitution liad been made.
