POSITION OF SINGLE UNEMPLOYED.
The original Unemployment Act provided for sustenance allowance to the extent ot £1 1/ weekly for all unemployed single men for whom the Unemployment Board was unable to provide suitable relief work, 'secing that the relief rate of pay for single men working under No. 5 scheme has been reduced to 15/ weekly, sustenance to the extent of at least 7/6 weekly should be allowed to enable them to carry on. All must admit that no man can possibly live on less than 21/0 weekly arid, that that sum allows of no provision ot anything but absolute necessities. From the miserable wage paid anything up to 2/0 per week is required to meet travelling e *P?.nses and unemployment levy. ONION o-
