UNEMPLOYED WOMEN

At a meeting or Auckland unemployed women, held this week, it was decided to form a new organisation. It was asserted that women and girls were tired of continually walking a long distance to be constantly told "Nothing doing." A reorganising scheme was submilted and approved of and officers appointed to take the necessary steps to bring the new society before the public, hoping that by eo doing, and by appointing leaders in the suburban districts as suggested, work would bo created for some at least. It is proposed to organise unemployed women and girls into teams so as to assist them to maintain themselves while waiting employment; to assist any who may need assistance in other ways; to obtain and keep a correct register of all genuine unemployed in any town, village or settlement. The management of the society for the time being is to be in the hands of the president of the New Zealandere' Association and an executive of seven unemployed women, three from the Auckland unemployed women and four team leadere yet to be apppointed.

The duty of the executive is to get into touch with authorities to obtain funds to provide rent for shops, workrooms, material, etc.; to secure shops for the sale of goods to be made for sale by the unemployed wom<m; to appeal to all women organieations, churches and others, to purchase goods made hy unemployed women; to devise ways and means to obtain materials to make into articles for sale; to attend to cases of distress or sickness if such should be reported by any team leader, using the services of such organisations as the Hospital Board, Fhinket Society, Help to Women and Children, etc. A team leader appointed by the executive is to be the organiser for her district and will appoint her own assistants, such appointment to be reported to the executive for approval. The leader is to register unemployed upon the card system, cards to be supplied by the executive, all registrations to be in duplicate and one card sent to the executive for filing. Such card is to have the name, address, class of employment, married, single, children (if any), etc. The leader is to classify the unemployed, and where possible arrange teams to make up goods for sale, either individually or collectively, but all eucli M f ork is to be under the supervision of the leader appointed. When any unemployed women, individual or collectively, wish to use the shop for tlie sale of their goods, cards shall be issued, and the goods for sale shall be shown on such card, also the price of goods to he paid to the makers. A email commission will be added for overhead expenses, and once such goods are sold the money shall be paid direct to the maker. No goods aro to be received at any shop for sale until such goods are properly carded upon the maker's card and also upon the shop card. Team leaders and assistants will also do all they can to obtain goods as gifts for sale, these also to be carded, and, once sold, the proceeds of such sale to be used for organising purposes under the executive.
