COMPANY FORMATION.
LECTURE TO STUDENTS.
An interesting lecture illustrating the various steps taken in tlio formation of a public limited liability company, was delivered to about sixty accountancy students at the Auckland Technical College toy Mr. Cyril Mackley, a former Government auditor. Mr. G. Hagan presided. The speaker explained the various reasons for forming a company. The primary object was to make a profit for the promoter and shareholders, but in some cases it was obvious that the promoter stood to make profit before the shareholders. That was a point to be guarded against. It was also pointed out that a company could not start business until a certificate of incorporation had been granted by the registrar, also that it was not safe to enter into contracts with a company until this certificate was received, as the company would not be bound by a contract entered into ■prior to that time.
