WHANGAREI FUNERAL.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Thursday. The funeral took place at Waipu yesterday of a very old identity of the district, Mr. Edward Campbell. Deceased was born at Waipu 70 years a"0. Ho was the son of Mr. Robert Campbell, one of the original settlers, who came from Nova Scotia in the Gertrude. In his early days Mr. Edward Campbell assisted his father at their well-known farm, " Brookfield,"' and later worked for many years in the bush. His death occurred at the Whangarei District Hospital on Monday ._ Mr. Campbell, who was unmarried, leaves four brothers, Norman, RorVj and Captain Campbell, of Waipu Cove, and Duncan, of Whangarei, and a sister, Mrs. Keene, of Whangarei.
