HELP FOR FORMER SOLDIERS
GRANT OF £20,000 REQUESTED.

Unemployed returned soldiers of Christchurch. it a meeting yesterday decided to ask that delegates to the Dominion conference be instructed to press for a grant of £20.000 troni the canteen funds for the purpose of relieving unemployment and distress among returned men throughout New Zealand. The meeting was first called in accordance with the wish of a general meeting of members of the association, which thought it advisable that unemployed returned men should meet once a month. Mr. W. V.. Leadley. chairman of the unemployed etr.'ir.iiUw. presided over an attendance of about. 150 men.
