NAPIER, PAYS A TRIBUTE.
POLICE SUPERINTENDENT CUMMINGS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, this day. A gathering of over 70 prominent citizens of Napier this morning farewelled Superintendent D. G. Gumming?, who was recently transferred to Christchurch on promotion. Speakers representative of all the municipal, commercial, legal and sporting interests in Napicr paid a tribute to the departing officer's work, particular reference being made to his magnificent service after the earthquake disaster. He was presented with a cheque, two travelling rugs and leather handbag, to be held in trust by his wife until the completion of his service.
