SEAT ON HARBOUR BOARD. VOTING IN THE WAIKATO. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Wednesday. A petition signed bv William McDonald Paterson and other supporters of Mr A. S. Sutherland, asking that the declaration of a poll in connection with the election of a member of the Auckland Harbour Board be set aside, and that a, fresh declaration be made was heard before Mr. Wyvem Wilson, S.M., to-day. C F. E. Barton, returning officer, stated in evidence that although only 3(5 persons voted in connection with the Harbour Board election at Tc Akau, 4S votes were east, 37 going to Sutherland, seven to farrcll, and four to Livingstone. Murdo Tolman McDonald, storekeeper, Te Akau, who acted as deputy-returning officer at Te. Akau, said he made a mistake is allowing plural voting at the Harbour Board election, but he discovered the mistake before noon, and after that lie issued one paper to each voter. Twelve or 15 people had voted before he discovered the mistake.

Harry Marsland, clerk to the Raglan County Council, said he received 14 declarations from Rotowaro and three from Hunt ly West with respect to the Harbour Board election. There were no voting papers with the declarations. The majority of those votes should have been disallowed, as the voters' names were not on the county valuation roll. The magistrate decided to conduct a complete scrutiny on Monday of all the votes cast at the 'election.
