MINISTER AT WHAKATANE.
SCHEMES FOR LAND SETTLEMENT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAKATANE, this day. The Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. C. E. Macntillan, after opening tho annual show to-day, received a series of deputations. Ho is to proceed to Wellington to-night. The Chamber of Commerce waited on tlie Minister relative to land settlement and highway-making schemes which have been formulated by the local unemployment committee. Reference was also made to the early settlement of portions of tho Galatea estate.
