GREAT NORTHERNS.
WORK AT ELLERSLIE. SEVERAL HORSES ARRIVE. KAWAINGA RETURNS TO THE TRACK.
It was an off morning at Ellerslie this morning, most of the horses being given pace work on the sand track. Tlie jumpers, Make Up and Landmark, worked together, being allotted a couple of rounds on the sand. Callamart and Master Lu were also given a similar task.
Catoma, who has been doing pace work during the last couple of days and has made a good recovery from the soreness that came against him last week, is an unlikely starter in the Cornwall Handicap, but may bo given a race later at the meeting.
Kawaingn, who has been absent from the track for a few days, made her reappearance this morning, but was not given acy solid work. During her absence Horn the track she has been exercised around the roads and has also been given lull work, but can hardly be at her best for the Great Northern Hurdles.
Arrivals this morning include Fernden, Full Mark, Balloon, Arikira, Copey, The Tiger, Nukumai, Silverinine and lapapa. Additional riding engagements are:— R. Mcßae, Imamint and Wishbone; J. Preston, Cat-i-mes and Kawaingaj T Williams, Beau Cavalier and Clontarf' Bill F. Thompson, Dominican; E. Garrett', Patutahi; A. Murray, Toujours, E. Manson, Refresher, All Humbug and Fairway A. Gilmer, Master Lu (Hurdles) and Tapapa.
