CIVIC ECONOMIES.
DIFFICULTY IN WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph.—Fress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Although expenditure has been reduced from £300,000 in 1931 to £190,000 for the current year, the Wellington Ci'ty Council still cannot afford to relax its efforts in the direction of economy. Answering a deputation of swimming and life-sav-ing club representatives, who yesterday urged the provisioin of salt water tepid baths in the city, the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, gave a survey of the city's finances, and said that in the face of increasing difficulties it would be difficult to balance the municipal budget this year.
