FIRE BOARD "HEAT."
DISCUSSION IN WELLINGTON. CITY COUNCIL'S REQUEST DECLINED. RECENT STAFF CHANGES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A meeting of the Wellington Fire Board to-day discussed an application by the City Council that all documents relating to the recent dismissal of Deputy-Superintendent Clark and the derating of Superintendent Creeke should be made available to the council.
The chairman, Mr. N. W. Nelson, submitted a lengthy report covering the whole position. After an animated discussion the board decided to decline the council's request, but agreed to make the documents available at the office of the Eire Board to the Mayor or any officer deputed by him to inspect them. This was carried unanimously.
Mr. R. Scmple then moved that the services of Mr. Clarke be dispensed with. This also led to a heated discussion, and the motion was finally rejected by four votes to three.
