HOUSE-BREAKING.
i THIEVES AT MOUNT ALBERT. BRAZEN DAYLIGHT ROBBERY. ARTICLES WORTH £40 STOLEN. An audacious daylight robbery was carried out in Mount Albert yesterday afternoon, when a burglar entered and ransacked the home of Mrs. M. J. Allen, 12, Willis Street, near the Mount Albert Grammar School. Mrs. Allen, who is a widow, was only absent from her house for half an hour. She securely locked the house on leaving, but on returning discovered that the front door had been forced open. The doors showed marks made by a jemmy. The thief apparently observed Mrs. Allen leave, and then forced the door. The intruder thoroughly searched every room for valuables, and decamped with clothing and jewellery valued at £40. The rooms were left in confusion, the contents of drawers and cupboards being scattered about the floors.
