ANXIOUS TO KNOW.
MINERS AT HIKURANGI. TRADESPEOPLE'S APPEAL. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAXGARKI, this day. The strike position at Hikurangi is unaltered. The miners' delegates left for Auckland to meet the owners yesterday, and the men this, morning were anxiously waiting to learn whether the conference was taking place. Yesterday afternoon the business wen of the township dispatched telegrams to the Minister of Mines and the Minister of Employment asking that they should intercede and do everything poi* sible to bring about a settlement. The stoppage at Wilsons Collieries last year and the flooding of both mines have already caused heavy loss to the tradespeople of Hikurangi.
