AFTER-HOUR TRADING.
TOBACCONISTS OBJECT.
COMMERCIAL TRUSTS ACT
\ meeting of the recently-formed Auckland Hairdressers and Tobacconists Association was held in the Chamber of Commerce Hall last evening. The president, Mr. K. Hoppy, occupied the chair. Tho irregular hours observed by many in tho trade were discussed, and it was decided to request the Labour Department to toko legal action against all hairdressers who' kept their saloons open after hours, and to compel all shops selling cigarettes and tobacco to close one half-day in each week. It was also decided to approach the police in respect to Sunday trading, which the meeting viewed with concern. The Commercial Trusts Act, 1910, was considered, and the secretary was instructed to write to the Auckland Chamber of Commerce- and the Auckland Master Grocers' Association with a view to their support being enlisted in a movement to have the Act repealed Correspondence was received from Whangarei tobacconists and grocers promising assistance in this direction, and it was decided to communicate with meribera of Parliament asking them to su 1 port tho abolition proposal on tho grounds that it hampered legitimate trade. The following executive committee was elected:—Messrs. D. Findlay, R. Paul, A. Sharp, W. Webb, R. Wilkinson, J. WiUiam.
