MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD.
The Mount Roskill Road Board met last night, Mr. C. M. McCullough presiding.
Road Races. —The application of the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club for permission to conduct road races over certain roads in the southern area of Mount Roskill was referred to the board's solicitor for his opinion as to the board's liability in the event of an accident should permission be granted.
Seymour Park.—According to the engineer's estimate it would cost £49 to provide material and cartage for their turf cricket pitches in Seymour Park, as requested by the Mount Roskill Cricket Club. The chairman said the Seymour Park account was £37 in credit. The parks committee will report on the matter if the club undertakes to provide the labour.
Post Office Transferred.—The Post-master-General intimated that arrangements had been made to transfer the Three Kings post and telegraph office to the premises of Mr. Peacock, at the corner of Queensway and Kingsway, Mount Roskill.
Auckland Museum.—ln acknowledging its liability to contribute £148. 16/10 towards the maintenance of the Auckland Institute and Museum this year, the board noted with regret 'that the museum authorities, in increasing the levy, were not in tune with the general spii-it of the times. The road board suggested an all-round reduction of. say, 10 per cent, in the levy would be appreciated by the ratepayers.
