MOTOR HILL CLIMB
RILEY WINS CHAMPIONSHIP.
The Texaco Cup for the hill-climbing championship, run near Helensville last Saturday, was won by Mr. George Smith, driving a Riley. The formula was worked out yesterday, and consideration was given to the time taken, the length and height of the hill, the weight of the car and passengers, and the capacity of the motor.
Results were:—G. Smith (1087 c.c. Riley), figure of merit, 43.7, 1; R. A. Dexter, jun. (1087 c.c. Riley), 49.7, 2; P. Seabrook (747 c.c. Austin), 57.2, 3; V. C. Bedford (972 c.c. Sinsrer), 65.3, 4; J. P. Johnston. (847 c.c. M.G-. Midget), 67.2, 5; L. C. Driver (832 c.c. Triumph), 71.7, 6. JJhe winning car also made the best time'-in the championship, finishing in 2.0 3-5.
