EAGER ROSE INJURED.
CAUGHT IN A FENCE
KING PEG AT MARTON,
ROSE LUPIN RESUMES WORK.
The course proper, about 30ft out from the rails, was available for fast work at Te Awamutu yesterday morning, but was little in demand, the majority of trainers using the plough.
Course Proper. Shamgar, who appears to be much improved at present, did useful work over five furlongs, which he placed behind in 1.6 3-5. Shaingar seems to be standing up to Ins work a little better than formerly, although he occasionally shows signs of soreness. Kanapa ran the last two furlongs of half a mile in 25 2-ss. He worked nicely. Both these horses were afterwards given trotting exercises on the plough. G. Paul's Musketoon—Sibford gelding covered two furlongs in 27 3-ss. This gelding has filled out considerably since being spelled, and is a bold worker. J. W. Cathro's Diacquenod—Auriculous gelding was sent two furlongs at threequarter pace. This gelding is a nice handy size, and appears to have pace. Yearlings to work on the course proper were the filly by Diacquenod—Finelli, colt by High Art—Baby Doll, and the filly by Gay Shield —Boyne mare. This trio were cantered around together for education. The Plough. King Peg, who left for Marton yesterday afternoon, was allotted pace work over two circuits. He looks in the pink of condition, and should perform well in his engagements there_. Soloist and Te Homai were allotted similar tasks, both working well. Spalpiko, who has been absent since the Paeroa meeting, was again on the track. He worked easily over a couple of rounds, and is well on the way to recovery. Linieen, who also has had a slight let-up since the Te Kuiti meeting, showed no signs of soreness while working, but she is a little lighter in condition. Another of H. L. Russell's charges, who has been running on the farm for some time, is Rose Lupin. This filly returned to work yesterday morning, and she appears to have derived a lot-of benefit from her spell. Ii should not take much to get her ready for racing. Eager Rose, while Tunning in the paddock during the week-end, got into a fence and cut ' herself badly about the hind legs and stifle. She will most likely be off the scene for some time. Lcitrim (McEae) again schooled nicely over six flights of hurdles. With a little more experience he should develop into a very efficient jumper. Others to do pace work were Emancipation, Goodfellow and Sir Musk.
