WINTER COLOURS.
"Is brown a good evening colour?" was tho question asked in a discussion on the coming autumn and winter fashions. The answer is "Yes," on condition that ono has the slick and soignee appearance demanded by this exacting shade, for which tho wearer has to look her best. Nigger-brown, wallflower, and prune-brown lace evening gowns cor-, tainly give a distinctive fashion to the wearer. A well-known French designer in the coming season's fashions has reverted to the princess robe frocks, which are closely moulded to tho figure and show an absence of waist belt. Every woman who can afford two evening frocks, picks what is good style, black, and the-most striking model " shown recently at a world fashion show was in black taffeta, made to wrap round the figure and tie in a big bow at the right hip, so that it need not be put over the head.
