WESTFIELD WEEKLY SALE,
New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At our weekly Westfield fat stock market held to-day beef was penned in large numbers. There was a steady demand for prime quality, which sold at late rates. Plain and unfinished cattle were dull of sale. Extra choice ox sold to 20/ per lOttb; choice and prime, 17/ to 19/; secondary and plain, 14/ to 16/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 16/ to 19/; secondary, 12/ to 15/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £8 to £9; heavy, £7 to £7 17/6; lighter, £6 to £6 17/6; light, £5 to £5 17/6; small and unfinished, £3 10/ to £4 17/6. Extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £5 to £5 10/; heavy, £4 to £4 15/; lighter, £3 to £3 15/6; light, £2 to £2 17/6; others, 15/ to £1 10/.
Alfred Buekland and Sons, Ltd., report:—At our weekly Westfield fat stock market held to-day our supply of fat cattle numbered 320 head, comprising 205 steers and 115 cows and heifers, as against 215 head at last Wednesday's sale. There was a steady demand, with little or no variation in the value of ox beef. Cows and heifers were easier in price. Extra choice ox sold to £1 per 1001b; choice and prime, 17/ to 19/; secondary and plain, 14/ to 16/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 15/ to 18/; ordinary, 7/ to 14/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £8 to £8 15/; heavy, £7 to £7 17/6; lighter, £5 15/ to £0i 17/6; light, £4 to £5 12/; small and unfinished, £2 2/6 to £3 17/6.
