WORKSHOP LET AS HOUSE.
OTAHUHU PROSECUTION.
James A. Carter appeared before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., at the Otahuhu Magistrate's Court, charged with a breach of the borough by-laws in that he converted a workshop into a dwelling and let it to a tenant, the area beino 1 less than prescribed by the by-law.
The borough solicitor said the area of a section for building purposes must not be less than one-sixth of an acre and the frontage not less than 50 feet. Defendant's dwelling house was on an area of a quarter of an aero with a frontage of 84 feet. This did not permit him to rent his converted workshop to another family. This prosecution was the first of its kind.
Defendant was fined 20/, with costs 10/.
