SPECIAL "CRUSADE."
ANGLICAN CHURCH FUNCTION.
A somewhat unusual event in the activities of the Anglican Church will take place in St. Mary's Cathedral, Parnell, to-morrow night, when Archbishop Averill will receive and commission four "crusaders" to preach in the Auckland diocese on behalf of the missionary work of the church.
The "crusaders" are Bishop W. C. Sadlier, of Nelson, leader; Archdeacon Monaghan, vicar of Timaru; the Rev. R. Hodgson, vicar of Waireng-a-hika, formerly of the Melanesian Mission, and the Rev. F. W. Wilkes, vicar of Northcote, and formerly of South India.
The diocesan missions' committee has made extensive preparations for the crusade, which is part of a provincialwide campaign initiated by the Board of Missions, Wellington. The service tomorrow evening will be of a special nature. After the "commissioning" ceremony, Bishop Sadlier will speak on the objects of the visit. The service, which will be conducted by Canon W. Fancourt, vicar of St. Mary's, will be reproduced in the parish hall by loud speakers. Special meetings will be held throughout the week, r; L1 ..,_ _~__'
