Following the holiday there was a slightly better demand for fruit at the auction marts to-day, but values followed fairly closely those ruling at the weekend. Tree tomatoes were on sale, bringing from 3/ to 5/6 per case. Latest quotations are as follow:— Apples: Delicious, 1/9 to 2/6 per case; Munrocs, 2/ to 2/6; Jonathan, 2/ to 3/; Ballarats, 3/ to 4/; Northern Spy, 2/ to 4/; Granny Smith, 4/ to 0/6; others, 1/0 to 2/. Pears: Louise Bons, 4/ to 5/; Packham's Triumph, 2/6 to 4/; Coles and Nelis, 3/ to 6/; Buerre Bosc, 1/9 to 2/6, Keiffers, 2/ to 2/6; others, 2/ to 2/0. Lemons: 5/ to 9/. Persimmons: 2/ to 3/. Capes: 2d to 3d lb. Passions: 2/.to 3/ case. Mandarins: 10/ to 12/. Oranges: Island, 14/ to 20/. Mushrooms: In benzine tins, 3/ to 6/6. Tomatoes: Local, choice smooth, ripe, 3/ to 4/6; hothouse, to 5/6; others, 1/ to 2/; Ilutts, 2/ to 2/6. Grapes: Hothouse, Column's, lOd to 1/3 per lb; Te Kauwhatas, 5/ to 6/6 per case. Bananas: No. 1, to 11/ per case; mediums and seconds, 4/ to 9/. Tree tomatoes: 3/ to 5/6. Vegetables. There were full supplies of vegetables, and these met with a fair inquiry at rates similar to those ruling the previous week. Latest quotations are as follow: — Potatoes, 2/6 to 3/0 bag; onions, 4/ to 5/3 bag; kumaras, 2/ to 3/ bag; cabbage, 1/0 to 4/ sack; cauliflower, 4/ to 8/ sack; swedes, 1/ to 1/0 bag; pumpkins, Crown and Triumble, 5/ to 6/6 cwt; others, 2/ to 4/ sack; citron melons, 1/ sack; green peas, 2/ to 8/ bag; beaiis, 1/ to 2/ bag: lettuce, 1/ to 5/ case; cucumbers, 6d to 1/3 dozen; vegetable marrows, 1/ to 2/3 dozen; water melons, 2d to 6d each; cabbage, loose, 1/ to 2/6 dozen; cauliflower, loose, 1/6 to 3/6 dozen; celery, 6d to 1/9 bundle: rhubarb, 1/ to 3/ dozen: spinach, 6d to 9d dozen; pumpkins, loose, Id to 6d each; radish, 6d dozen; spring onions, 4d to 9d bundle; carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips, 4d to 8d dozen; Brussels sprouts, 2d to 3Vid lb; leeks, 2d to 3d bundle. Eggs and Butter. The supply of eggs at the marts i.as only been moderate, and with a fair demand late rates have been fully maintained. Latest quotations are as follow: — Hen eggs: First grade, 2/I'/i per dozen; A's. 1/9%; B's, 1/5%. Duck eggs: First grade, 1/11%; A's, l/7'/ 2 ; B's, 1/4V2. Farmers' butter is selling at 8d to lid per lb. Poultry. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultry was small, and the demand was keen. The prices paid remain about level. Selling rates were as follow: — Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime 2/9 to 5/ each, not prime 1/6 up; light breeds, prime 1/6 to 3/, not. prime 1/ up. Fat roosters: Heavv breeds, prime, 1/6 to 2/; light breeds, 1/3 to 1/9. Fat liens: Heavy breeds, 1/9 to 2/6; light breeds, 1/3 to 1/6. Pullets: Heavy breeds, best 5/ to 6/, smaller 2/ up; light breeds, best 5/ to 6/, smaller 2/ up. Drakes: Young, prime 1/9 to 2/6, smaller 1/ up. Ducks: Young, 2/3 to 3/6; old, 1/6 to 2/3. Drakes: Old 1/3 to 1/9.
