RACING AT AVONDALE.

THE AUTUMN MEETING. CARD FOR TO-MORROW. CANDIDATES' RECENT FORM. Good fields are carded for the opening of the Avondale Jockey Club's autumn meeting at Avondale to-morrow, and though there are only half a dozeD left in the All-aged Stakes the :najority a\-e class horses that should provide an exciting eontost. If the weather remains fine the club should have a successful meeting, at least frora a racing point of view.

The Opening Event. Thirteen are engaged in the Rosebank Handicap, with which the programme opens. Grand Review was in front for a good way in the Great Northern Oaks, while she was second in a mile at Ellerslie at Christmas time, and should again go well. Silene has not done much racing since being placed three times in sixfurlong events at the last Rotorua meeting, but she should run out the distance all right. Ruling King was third over a similar distance at Frankton. Transaction is said to be galloping pleasingly at Te Awamutu. Puss Moth ran well at Franklin and failed at Paeroa. The best of the others may be Abbey Dream and Moonfleet. Most of the Investments may go on GRAND REVIEW RULING KING, SILENE

The High-weight Handicap. Standfast is top-weight in the Highweight Handicap with 11.3. He won oyer hurdles at Ellerslie on Monday, and despite his 11.3 should show up. High Pitch has not raced for a long while, but Innuendo won over a mile at Poverty Bay last February. He has not started since entering J. Gray's stable. Royal Survey shaped well over seven furlongs yesterday morning, and when at his best can run a good mile. Tarporley was just beaten in highweight handicaps at Takapuna in January, and he may again ehow to advantage in this race. Escalus may be the best of the remainder. The favourites may be TARPORLEY ROYAL SURVEY STANDFAST.

The Two-year-olds. Greek Gold, who is at the head of the Oakley Handicap, an event for two-year-olds, raced well at Ellerslie, winning on both days, and he should again be hard to beat. Sea Ruler was fourth in the Victoria Handicap at the same meeting, Greek Gold, La Moderne and Inflation fin>shing in front of him. He should be improved. Impudent ran a good race in the Onslow Stakes, being third to Greek Gold and Courtyard at Ellerslie last Saturday. Grand Sport showed up in the same event and he looks the pick o£ the others. The public may fancy GREEK GOLD IMPUDENT SEA RULER.

The Big Handicap. Great Star is engaged in the Foley Memorial as well as the Railway Handicap, but is to start in this event, and is sure to be troublesome. He won the Easter Handicap with 8.0 and was third in the Autumn Handicap, one mile and a halt, with 8.9. He has now 8.13. Purin Park won the Cup at Paeroa in good style, and though he did not show up prominently in the Easter Handicap at Ellerslie he was running on at the finish. Chief Joy was well up in the President's Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at Ellerslie for about half the distance and then dropped back; while Awaken finished third. Gibraltar ran a good race in the St. Leger Stakes, when he finished-second. Kings Archer registered a very easy victory in the President's Handicap on the nrst day at Ellerslie. He was anchored by the weight in the heavy going in the Islington Handicap. Imperial Prince won two events at Paeroa and also accounted tor the Islington Handicap, one mile, at Ellerslie. He has only to stay on to have a good chance. He is also in the Titirangi Handicap. Speedmint won the Oaks and led into the straight in the Autumn Handicap at Ellerslie, and she and GayCockade, who finished second in the President's Handicap, appeal most of those lower down. Recent form may cause backers to support GREAT STAR PURIRI PARK. GIBRALTAR. The All-aged Stakes. Cadland and Lady Quex, who head the field in the All-aged Stakes, are two of the best sprinters in the country, and both will be in demand. Golden Wings is in receipt of lib from them, and he .is sure to be hard to dispose of, for his success at Trentham and second at Ellerslie show that he is back to his best form. lea Trader will have most friends of the others engaged, but when the machine closes they may be backed in the following order, CADLAND LADY QUEX GOLDEN WINGS. The Chevalier Handicap. Bronze Tray can run a good mile, and he will not be neglected in the Chevalier Handicap. Innuendo has an earlier engagement, while Psychologist was third in the Eden Handicap, one mile, at Ellerslie last Saturday. Good Idea won the Nelson Handicap, of similar distance, at the same meeting, in which Alpina, who is also engaged, was third. Teels failed in the Eden Handicap, but may do better tomorrow. Limex may prove the best ol tne others. A trio that may find most favour are BRONZE TRAY PSYCHOLOGIST ALPINA. The Sprinters. Great Star will contest the Foley Memorial in preference to the Railway Handicap. Huntingdon was third in the Huia Handicap at Ellerslie and should be improved. Easter Time was fourth in that event and is ako engaged in this race, as well as the All-aged Stakes, run earlier in the day. Silvermine should have benefited as the result of his racing at Ellerslie, while of the others Tea Chat, Ganpat and White Wings read best. The favourites, in the absence of Great Star, may be HUNTINGDON SILVTRMINE EASTER TIME. The Concluding Event.
