LITTLE THEATRE.

A largely-attended At Home was held. by the members of the Little Theatre Society in the Town Hall last evening. The function was a great success. It took the form of an entertainment. Excellent items were provided and during the evening speeches were made by Professor R. M. Algie, a vice-president of the society, and Mr. Gaston Mervale, the producer. Professor Algie spoke of the work the Little Theatre Society was doing and of the 'isolation of 2vew Zealand as regards drama. Mr. Mervale, in appealing for more members, sail tlu> population of.the city should permit of one and a half per cent joining the society, which would enable them perhaps "to erect a theatre of their own and eo "foster drama in this country. Each item of the programme was announced in a humorous manner by Mr. Charles Archer, who wore the. typical costume of an old-time actor. It included songs by Madam Kato Campion, Miss Rita McCullay, Mr. Geoffrey Colledge and Mr. B. Skeels; humorous items by. Mr. Alan McEdwain and Mr. Dan Flood; conjuring by Mr. E. Axford; song and dance by Miss Patricia Boyle; dance by Miss Lesley Crane; violin solo by Mr. Vincent Aspey; Scotch humour by Air. Elton Black; an andagio dance by Miss Mardi Brook and Mr. N. McElroy; and exhibition of the Argentine Tango by Miss Margaret O'Connor and Mr. Priestly. Mrs. Charles Prime and Mr. Leo Whittaker acted as accompanists.
