HURRICANE BLOW.
Many Left Homeless in Narromine. ESTIMATED DAMAGE £40,000. (Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Several New South Wales country towns suffered heavily when swept by severe storms. In the Narromine district the damage is estimated at £40,000. Two stores and at least 30 houses were destroyed at Bourke, and four persons were sent to hospital injured by falling timber. The electric light at Narromine was completely disorganised, the. telephone and telegraph services were put out of action, and the water supply was cut off. The Roman Catholic Church was destroyed, and the Methodist Church, three hotels, the public school and the Town Hall were seriously damaged. Many persons are homeless.
