POLAR MEMORIES.
■ ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION. EXHIBITS IN DUNEDIN. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, this day. Bringing back memories of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition is an exhibition in a Dunedin jeweller's shop, which consists of a medal and letters from the Acting-Secretary of the United States Navy and Admiral R. E. Byrd, and are the property of Mr. P. Wallis, of this city, who filled the position of tailor during the expedition's etay on the ice. The medal is of bronze, and is suspended from a ribbon having two white stripes separated by one of royal blue. All of them are of equal width. The face of the medal carries in relief a human figure in Arctic kit, while the reverse side bears the following inscription: "Presented to the officers and men of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition to express the high admiration in which Congress and the American people hold their heroism and undaunted services in connection with scientific investigation and extraordinary aerial exploration of the Antarctic continent."
