SPEED-BOAT CHAMPIONSHIP.

TWO AUCKLAND CHALLENGERS,

Spot and Hobo. Jim., the two cnallengers for the Cup* symbol of the speed boat championship ot Aew Zealand, were sent by rail to-day to Wanganui. The race will be decided there on Friday at-the Wanganui River curnival. Spot will represent the New Zealand Power Boat Association and Holvo the Auckland Outboard Racing Club.

Mr. Alf Williams' new speed boat Spot was built by himself and launched before the holidays. Both it and the Hobo are expected to exceed 30 miles per hour. jVIv. W. F. Neal's outboard racer Pus was shipped in the same truck as the other boats. Pug will compete in all the events for its class at the regatta on Friday.

The programme includes the Masport Cup for' the New Zealand speed boat championship over a 15-mile course, t-.ie Helean Cup, a general handicap for outboard and inboard boats with a speed over 25 miles, the cup, value 60 guineas, lor the fastest boat, an interprovmcial oatboard handicap, the New Zealand outboard championship for Hatrick Brothers Lha.lenge Cup, and six other events.
