COMMUNIST AGITATORS.

I wonder how much longer the genuine unemployed of Auckland are going to allow a mere handful of Communists to speak 111 their name. Having watched the position very closely for some months past, I have definitely come to the conclusion that it is high time that the methods of the people referred to were exposed. There are considerably over 5000 men out of work in Auckland, and periodically, a meeting is "advertised" by scribbling a few notices in chalk on the footpaths in the city. The "unemployed" then meet—fully twenty strong—the greater percentage being Communists, and proceed to speak in the name of. the thousands referred to above. The result is that things are being done that would not 'be tolerated'iby the unemployed if they were alive to the situation, and it is quite evident that the Communist* (as they call themselves) are exploiting the position for all they are worth. After sneering and jeering at politicians in season and out of season they often take part in depute-, tions to the same gentlemen, praying for some measure of relief. They call this "demanding," as it sounds more militant. As a matter of fact, work is the last thing .they want, for, they are not the genuine unemployed, but professionally unemployed. In conclusion, I would advise the public to always inquire into the bona fides of those who are appealing allegedly on behalf of the "unemployed." NORTHERN SPY.
